The bicycle is an efficient and clean means of transportation. Cycling is a recreational and sporting activity sutable for children and adults alike. The increasing use of bicycles in the daily lives of many people has motivated to build urban infrastructure dedicated to the development and safe practice of cycling. The city of Bariloche currently has 25 kilometers of bike lanes distributed throughout the city.

Below we list all the bike paths in Bariloche, with route description, location, and main features. You must know that connecting these bike paths requires taking roads or streets heavily traveled by motorized vehicles. For this reason, we do not recommend connecting bike paths with small children, elders, or beginners. If you don’t have a bike path near your home or accommodation, the only safe way to reach a bike path is by car.
You can rent bikes and hire a shuttle service to access the bike paths with your family.

PASEO DEL LAGO
Bike path in downtown Bariloche
LOCATION: Lake shore Bariloche – See route
The only bike path in downtown Bariloche is located beside the lake Nahuel Huapi. It’s a 600-meter-long concrete strip with beautiful views of the Andes Mountains. It’s best enjoyed on sunny days, and offers a variety of foodtrucks during summer. The path is for pedestrians and cyclists, ideal for children learning to ride.

PASEO DEL SUR

LOCATION: Barrio alto Bariloche – See route
The southern access road to Bariloche is a busy route that connects Bariloche’s working-class neighborhoods with the city center. This 2.2-km bike path provides safety for cyclists and pedestrians who travel this route daily to work. It is also popular among local families on weekends for hiking and recreational activities.


PASEO COSTA DEL SOL
The bike path that connects Bariloche with Dina Huapi
LOCATION: Costa del Sol – See route
The most ambitious bike path project in Bariloche to date. This 5-km bike path will connect the city of Bariloche with the town of Dina Huapi. Once completed, it will allow cyclists and pedestrians to avoid the heavy traffic that flows between these two urban centers. It will undoubtedly be an excellent transportation alternative for both locals and tourists in eastern Bariloche.

TRAIL USINA HIDROELÉCTRICA
A natural bike path in a wonderful setting
LOCATION: Virgen de las Nieves – See route
This is Bariloche’s most picturesque, easy-to-use trail. Ideal for walking, running, or biking year-round. It borders the Gutiérrez Stream and is 2.5 km long. It turns yellow in spring, and orange and ochre in autumn. It is maintained by the Military Mountain School, which is located near the trail.


BIKE LANE ROAD TO CATEDRAL
More safety for road cycling
LOCATION: Access mount Catedral – See route
This is a dedicated bike lane that allows training and high-speed riding on the access route to Cerro Catedral. It is currently only 1 kilometer long. This bike path will likely be extended to the base of Cerro Catedral in the future. This will allow road cyclists to safely travel along this popular Bariloche road. It’s worth mentioning that during winter peak season, this road is heavily congested when skiers access the mountain.

PASEO DEL OESTE
One of the longest bike paths in Bariloche
LOCATION: Av. Bustillo Km 7 – See route
This bike path begins at Pioneros Avenue and Libra Street. It’s an excellent way to connect the “kilometros” area with Villa los Coihues near Lake Gutiérrez. The bike path is 6 kilometers long, has a gentle gradient, and offers wonderful views of Otto Hill, San Martín Hill, and Catedral Hill. From Villa los Coihues, you can continue pedaling to Los Duendes Waterfall. You can also connect this path with the hydroelectric power plant bike trail.


BIKE PATH DINA HUAPI CENTER
The first bikepath in town
LOCATION: Dina Huapi town – See route
Dina Huapi is the pioneering town in the construction of bike paths in the region. This path is used by cyclists, runners, and pedestrians who want to navigate the town in an ecological and safe way. It is 3.7 km long. It begins near the Ñirihuau River and ends a few meters from the Limay River. It can be connected to the Dina Huapi beach bike path.

The bike path with the best views of Bariloche runs along the shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi for 1.5 km. This peaceful route, ideal for families, offers beautiful views of the Andes Mountains and Lake Nahuel Huapi. A walk that invites you to enjoy the beach and contemplate the immensity of Patagonia. It can be combined with the central Dina Huapi bike path. Both bike paths together offer a ride of more than 5 kilometers.


PASEO DEL ESTE
Local families favourite bike path
LOCATION: Acceso Este – See route
This bike path is ideal for cycling from La Colina and Las Victorias neighborhoods to downtown Bariloche. It’s also an excellent recreational option for families living in this area of the city. It stretches for 4.5 kilometers, making it one of the longest bike paths in Bariloche. Paseo del Este connects with the old airport road. This space is ideal for children learning to ride a bike.

FIREBRAKER TO MOUNT CATEDRAL
Car-free access to Catedral ski resort
LOCATION: Vialidad Cerro Catedral – See route
Although it’s not a paved bike path, this wide, easy-to-ride trail offers the opportunity to ascend or descend mount Catedral ski resort without vehicular traffic. It has a steep gradient, so it’s recommended for cyclists with a certain level of training and experience.
