The “Andes – Domuyo Volcano Challenge” begins in Chos Malal and takes us north through the eastern Cordillera del Viento (Windswept Range). In two days of intense ascents, we reach the highest point of the mountain range, with the snow-capped Domuyo Volcano always in view. The descent toward Route 43 is indescribable; you have to experience it! On this journey, we’ll enjoy the hot springs that emerge beneath Domuyo Volcano and see the only geysers in Argentina. Cuesta del Obispo offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes for mountain biking, from the arid, dry desert of the Puna (high Andean plateaus) to the lush greens of the subtropical Yungas rainforest.

The route begins at the highest point of the Quebrada del Escoipe. It zigzags once, twenty, a thousand times between cacti and condors. Near the end of the route, a detour invites you to discover the magic of the Enchanted Valley, in Los Cardones National Park. And at Piedra del Molino, the highest point at 3,348 meters, you’ll be amazed to see the entire route as a large, indescribable model.

The Seis Miles Route North connects the desert towns of San Pedro de Atacama in northern Chile and Fiambalá in northwestern Argentina. The route is 786 kilometers long and can take 21 days to complete. You must be able to carry 18 days’ worth of food, cooking fuel, and 10 liters of water simultaneously. The combination of a heavily loaded bike, thin air, occasional stretches of strong headwinds, and long, gentle climbs make the route extremely demanding.
